Back in November we took a little spur-of-the moment day trip to Bandelier National Monument, which is about 2 hours away from Albuquerque. I'm so glad we did, it was a perfect day! The monument preserves the ancient ruins of the Pueblo people and has hiking trails, petroglylphs and of course, Pueblo Indian dwellings.
This picture (below) would look a lot more beautiful if we had gone just a month earlier. By November all the leaves were off the trees and so it lacked a little color I suppose.
There were lots of these ladders that you could climb up into the different dwellings. Maia LOVED doing it and wanted to make sure she was able to go inside every one.
We took a 1 mile loop trail and after you see all the ruins, it crosses over this stream. I kept thinking how I wish we would have gone here in the summer! The kids would have had a blast playing in the stream.
It was a perfect day with this family of mine that I love so much!
