Just a little depressed...

So Maia and I are just a little bit depressed today....our last round of visitors (my big sis Sienna, her husband Joe and their daughter River) left this morning. We kind of don't know how to get back into real life. Maia calls out for "Joe" and says "more Nenna" (translation=Sienna) and "River" (but she says it more like "Bi-ver" or something like that). Anyway, we are just sad that they had to leave. But we will get to see them when we go home to Utah in just a little bit so at least we can be excited about that. It was so much fun to have them here!! For the most part, Maia and River played really well together; there were only a couple of times where they got a little mean to each other and both ended up in time-out. It was actually quite a comical situation and I really wanted to laugh so hard, but I knew that wouldn't be teaching anything good to either of them, so time-out it was! I guess I just got a taste of what it is like to be a Mom of 2 kids....
My sister was such a trooper the whole time...she is 8+ months pregnant and was stuck sleeping on an air mattressand forced to get up bright and early with the rest of us (Maia determines the wake-up time around here!) AND Sienna had to deal with River and Maia every day seeing how having "Nenna" hold you was WAY better than Mom...but holding an 18 month old and a 3 year old AND being 8+months pregnant can't be any fun at all--my sister just isn't one to complain that's for sure, she just smiles and rearranges the kids so they can somehow both fit on her lap. Thanks Faux family for the fun visit!! We love you and miss you already!
Here are some pictures from their visit:

The first day, we just spent time outside playing in the sun and water! We had a BBQ that night with the Shaheen's and the Phillip's...it was fun to see the kids all play together.

The kids also had to take a couple of rides in the Monster Truck...the newest find from the curb. (But I actually found something better last night, so the truck went back out to the curb...it didn't stay long, someone snatched it up from our curb pretty quick! I love it when people take stuff from my curb!) But look at how this girl drives her car!! Both feet on the steering wheel??!
We love our cousins!!All of the kids saying "cheese"
River and Hayden....a match made in heaven! Such a cute picture!!
Then on Friday night the guys (David, Joe, Brad, Bron) had to go get some wings...a trip to Buffalo just wouldn't be complete without wings right? Here is Joe finishing off the last of them... Can you say heart attack?? So sick!
The night had to be finished off with a bubble bath together!! These girls could've stayed in there all night!
Saturday was more fun outside, a few garage sales, the ward swap day and a little shopping. Here are the girls dancing and eating cookies...
Maia's telling us that something is "cold" (that is the sign language for "cold", she just really animates it by her facial expressions!)
And getting hosed off by Uncle Toady (Toad is David's childhood nickname for those of you who don't know....of course it is a nickname that sticks with the kids so that is what most of them call him now too!)
Sunday was church (Sienna was nice enough to help me out in Nursery!! See what I mean by being a trooper!! This time she had about five 2-3 year olds who wanted to sit on her lap!) After church the kids played, fought a little bit too, but then hugged and made up. See, below they are friends again.
Sunday evening we went to Niagara Falls since Sienna had never been there. It was just the girls this time because Joe had gone to Canada to visit some friends from his mission and David had to study for his final on Monday.

And no, it wasn't snowing (even though this pictures makes it look like it was!) There is just so much mist when you get right up close to the falls it feels like it is raining and everything gets pretty wet. I love this picture of River and Maia--River is a good big sister to her! When we got home from the Falls that night, there was this really great thunder storm. River and Uncle Toady went out on the porch and watched the lightening and listened to the thunder. I think it's cute how River really likes David...when she was a baby she was so afraid of him, so it is fun to have her love him now! In fact one day when we were coming home from our jog--well I have to kind of elaborate on how this jog went...I took both of them in my double jogger, but it ended up not so good because they both wanted to get out and were crying and mad at each other by the time we got home, but I had to keep them in there and just keep running so we could get home...anyway, long story short, neither of them were very happy with me by the time we got home. So when we finally got to my house, River said "I just need to see Toady." And so she did and then everything was better.
Monday, we went to the dental school and met David for lunch and had a little picnic outside. Here are River and Maia hugging (although it looks more like a headlock to me!)

Maia is really good at saying "cheese" for the camera now. This is the face we get when we tell her to say cheese...
And here's the whole group!! Yes, we swapped kids for the picture...they both preferred the other's parents I guess!

So there you have it...another marathon post, sorry!! Hope you are all doing well! And to those of you in Utah...we will see you soon! I can't believe how fast this last month or so has gone by!

visitors totally throw off your routine... in a good way of course but the week after is sometimes rough. it looks like you had a blast though. happy the weather is cooperating.

so, i am guessing you will go to Niagara falls 25 times while you are in Buffalo!

I'm so happy that you guys had so much fun! I can't believe Sienna is having her second child soon, how exciting! I don't know if I told you but I saw Sienna's child on the news years ago while I was still in Provo when she was just born. She's so grown up now. I love those marathon post, thanks for the pictures.
